I really hope the misunderstanding between the 2 will be solved in a satisfying way. It’s quite sad that Riftan is misunderstanding how Maxi has been treated by her family her whole life, and misunderstanding with Maxi thinking that Riftan was actually forced to merry her.
If any of the close friends (knights, mostly including Ruth since he actually knows how deep in love Riftan is in Maxi), run their tongue wild and say how Maxi’s father rejected Riftan’s first proposal to her (not her sister), that misunderstanding will be easily solved and it would be enough for Maxi to know that Riftan wanted the marriage. The other one, is a bit more challenging to resolve, even though both misunderstandings are built around both Maxi’s and Riftan’s trauma, Riftan’s misunderstanding of wanting Maxi was also built around other peoples as witnesses that appear in their every day life as acquaintances or even friends. On the other hand, Maxi’s misunderstanding is built around her family and few of the servants (that would be to afraid to say anything), also including the priests that healed Maxi. With her family not being present in their every day life, and topic being utter embarrassing for prestige family’s household (as their title of being dukes), topic coming out from them is almost impossible. Which means that topic or at least some clues need to come out from Maxi. And that is a very challenging thing to discuss about to anyone (let alone someone that you think was force to be with you), as a ’cause of her traumatized experience over the years of her life.
The only good thing, that I’ve heard (also a spoiler, but small and satisfying one), is that when Riftan does find out, he is going to go absolutely mad about it, even storming into the duke’s mansion (Maxi’s father), and confronting him (as a brute, ‘cuz Riftan is basically a brute).
I just hope that manga goes into details about it as much as possible (like in novel).
