Ah if only they were able to say clearly to each other what they are feeling. Riftan, that he is afraid Maxi finds his home lacking and she will leave him, and Maxi, that she feels lacking in comparison to other noble women, and so is afraid that Riftan will leave her when he finds out. They would be so much happier if they cleared that up…
