Ugh, believe me, I totally understand why Maxi has severe self esteem issues and I’ve been both super sympathetic and empathetic with the character but I couldn’t help but to irk so bad when she thought everyone was about to mock her for dressing up. No hate but as an actual ugly girl, it just really irks me when beautiful people thinks they’re orges even after being proven countless of times that they are quite the opposite. I know this is just a fictional story but it just triggered me because I know people like this and it’s just hard to be understanding when people constantly puts me down to make the pretty girl feel better

the thing is though, the situation with maxi is completely different. all her life she was verbally and physically abused by her father making her feel worthless in every way. i myself, have gone through horrible things growing up and it made me change the way that I viewed myself, despite getting complimented growing up. even though girls are “pretty” doesn’t mean that they themselves think so. others have no idea what people go through and why they think of themselves in that way. I do understand where you’re getting at though
