bc he wants to corner them in their right mind… he wants revenge and it wouldnt be as satisfying if the prince was just mind controlled…
he wants to toy with them ig…
still annoying tho… just use the mind control to make him show all his plans… (ex: have him write a letter with all his plans inside then forget he wrote it… )
why does he have to be totally free willed??? why not make him do what your mom made you do (mind control to follow his orders or die)

He could have forced the Emperor to abdicate the throne at ANY point and taken control, but he didn’t because… plot would finish too soon.
He has said he doesn’t care for revenge on them, so there’s genuinely no reason to keep them around either.
Also he’s indifferent to the damage they cause to other people while they’re still around due to being an obsessed lunatic.

out of the blue but i find it cool that ml is not some ALL POWERFUL MAGICIAN.. like he cant do all types of magic. he can do mind control and make illusions (which i think is just another form of mind control bc he controls what people see) but he cant do attack magic or teleportation without magic tools he creates.. hes still SUPER POWERFUL but not too op if that makes sense
