Ohh, I remember reading the novel. The male lead apparently seems like a scumbag, but he isn’t really one, but he is one. It’s rather confusing, but from the vague memory of mine, I had read novel like 2–3 years ago, and dropped it after 100 chapters, because their relation was being too toxic.

So apparently, the male lead feels he is not good enough for a good girl like the fl. So even tho he likes her and slept with her willingly, he doesn’t admit it and instead insults her because he feels that his companionship would taint her or whatsoever.
And now, when he is back all successful, he wants to approach her, but also wants to keep distance. But his so-called ego hurts every single time, fl runs away from him or stays away from him, as you have seen in first few chapters.
The fl doesn’t seem to be strong, and ml’s character is shitzy as per what I remember.
But let’s see, maybe they could change the manhua a bit from the novel
