So, since they met 4 years earlier than in the ‘novel’, he’s starting to notice Athy because he still hasn’t forgotten all about Diana. Makes sense. Perhaps Athy’s First life could’ve been as nice as the current one if she just met Claude earlier.
He must have loved her mother Diana so much that he even killed the people and her palace when she died. Is it negligence? Or really natural death? He lost it when she died. But pls Athy came from Diana. Love her and cherish her.
