What are you talking about? Yes, I understand her not wanting to leave but she didn’t have to drag him into it. He repeatedly told her he didn’t want anything to do with her schemes and she ignores that for her own sake and uses her power to twist the newspapers and ruin his life. I would understand more if he was a terrible person, but the only thing he’s actually done wrong so far is do drugs and stuff. And I sympathize with her because obviously no one wants to be sold off to a man twice their age, but at that point and time it was normalized and quite generally, she should’ve just run away or dealt with it some other way, like joining the church, which was quite common. But of course she doesn’t want to give up her money and her lifestyle, despite the fact that she said she would be fine with next to anything as long as she didn’t have to leave. Oh no, she has to have everything go her way and have everything handed to her and we’re supposed to love her. I generally like villainous characters (the misunderstood ones) but she honestly just annoys me because she just can’t wrap her head around the fact that life isn’t fair and the fact that Regan hates her (because she ruined his life and he was perfectly happy- or at least content- before she came along) and the fact that maybe he doesn’t desire her and that would ruin her fragile self esteem.
