Ok i don’t blame Elliot. No can do anything from that far a distance. Elliot is still a decent guy. He didn’t bring anyone because more people at the mansion means if an army does come at least more soldiers ther to protect it. So this dude is still decent. This time it’s the fault of the protagonist. She found the dagger and didn’t keep it on her. Zero survival instinct. Keep it on 24/7, even when sleeping, you never know.
