I think I kinda understand, all her life she was treated like a trash, constantly ignored, neglected, not even allowed to speak a word, invisible to everyone, so when she finally meets people who are kind to her, she still cannot escape her inferiority complex.
A scar etched into her bones from birth, to the point, it has become a normalised habit of hers to feel inferior, there’s no way just few months of warmth could heal it. It’s not easy to get rid of habits you have been ingrained with since your birth.
In top of that, she knew from the beginning how her father cheated her, so she feels indebted, insecure, and underserved of his affections.
She knows that people outside think of her as the cherished daughter, so she is afraid to reveal her true situation to him, because she is afraid he would be disappointed and she would lose him forever.
