Strictly speaking you are right, Mrs Achillea, existence is something and as long as the person still has it you did not took “everything” from her. If you do take the existence from someone, there is no someone left to miss it, or anything else you took. In abstract, that’s a valid point.
However, in the specific case, and from the point of view of main character here feel guilty in this occasion makes more sense than feel guilty about most other things.
She do wanted to protect this other woman, it was a important thing in her plans, Now she left the woman without her most characteristic trait, what made her a important Historical figure in the other live. Nothing less than a direct connection to a superior force. Was not her intention to take it, she didn’t even knew that take it was possible, but in the end of day the woman was left without how was before the love of her life, and without her direct link with deity.
