If anything, this just proves that no matter how much you want a protracted vengeance upon someone, you should never allow them the opportunity to fight against you and should eliminate it immediately

lowkey yeah this all could be avoided if darcy didnt decide to prolong his death…. but i dont blame him lowkey… killing them both would def complicate things (esp since at the time he did not want to be emperor. if he kills them their would be no heirs to the throne and a their would be a power vaccum to fill which would likely be violent. if he wants to protect fl it makes sense to complicate things as little as possible by becoming crown prince ‘legitimately’ )
If he killed them right away it would be bad bc he couldnt become emperor. before he threatened the emperor, no one outside of the emperor and his guards knew the prince even existed so without the emperor to advocate for his legitimacy it would be hard to build a political base much less become the emperor… it wouldnt of mattered if he was just gonna leave but now he wants to stay and protect fl …
