To be fair, she’s trading being a tool for the empire to being a tool for him. Yes for revenge/protection but a tool nonetheless. Won’t she be just as restricted as his spouse (and a reminder, he specifically waited for her at her lowest point to approach her and offer her power so that she would become his.) I’d much rather the story go down the path where she ends up with her Shadow.
