I think that duke’s Father was in love with chloe’s mom who was in love and end up chosing Keeran (troy’s older brother), so the crown prince (luke’s father) killed keeran. But then Chloe’s mom was pregnant and Troy married his brother’s lover to protect the child. So far that was i got. I don’t know

There are too many twists going on in just 15 chapters. I’m feeling a bit hesitant to continue. We’ll see if I can push through from here.

So I think the last few chapters have been explaining a past that was unknown to the FL. The former Crown Prince (Luke’s dad) killed Keeran, blaming treason. However, it seems that was probably a lie as Luke’s mom asked if he thought they would ever be forgiven by Troy for the sin they committed. (I am wondering if this is the secret that Gideon learned of that near cost his family their lives since Gideon hates the former Crown Prince.) The FL grew up thinking Troy was her biological dad. However, this chapter informs us that Keeran, Troy’s older brother who was murdered, was her bio dad. Troy married her mom to take care of her and the FL, even though he was judged poorly in high society for taking his brother’s wife.
This shows the FL being shocked to learn that her father didn’t betray Luke’s father first. During both her first life and this one, she though her father (Troy) betrayed his friend, a good man, and therefore Luke’s revenge was justified. Now she learns that Troy was just retailiating for his older brother getting killed and being branded a traitor.
