Well that was stupid. Not telling your sins what’s going on only ruined your relationship with Him, isolated him, and drove him from home. Its completely dumb to say telling the truth will break him when having the entire world think his father is a philandering a**hole and his mother was pathetic and died horribly and only driving malicious rumors about his family isn’t going to break him. She dont even have kids to be giving someone advice on whether they should be telling their son the truth or not regarding the situation. And having him believe his mother was that easily replaced only sparks resentment and hatred instead of allowing him time to process the loss of his mother. Im already turned off by dumb and dumber. She didnt have to marry that man to help him. She could’ve become the governess and he could’ve cited the loss of his wife as his outright refusal to remarry and make that a public statement. Him marrying her right after his wife passes only makes it seem like his emotions can be easily swayed by a pretty face because if he’ll go after his wife’s bestfriend, what’s to stop them from trying to send him a mistress or second wife

I wouldve told the older kid if I saw him like that. He seemed mature enough to recognize loss and would come to understand the situation. Not telling makes it prolong his sense of loss instead of accepting it. I imagine he’d have guilt and other mixed feelings if he found out much later making his emotional distress and hatred all those years were technically unfounded
