ugh this religion is way too similar to many christian religions. as an atheist, im so relieved that i have the freedom to not see things like this irl cuz just reading about this fictional religion is irritating enough.
For anyone confused, this is how I understood it. Idk if it’s completely right or not but here:
The judge, with the Pope’s authority, that burst in is accusing Apostle of Asserto that he is denying the unity of the Holy Trinity. Ariadne is fabricating that her father the Cardinal let the Apostle of Asserto continue with the sermon to expose the Apostle of Asserto in order to have him punished. She is saying the cardinal would also not dare refuse the Apostle of Asserto because he was personally ordered by the Pope to conduct the sermon at that location. So she’s just saying her dad was like, I’m gonna roll with it and let Asserto incriminate himself. Her dad the Cardinal is actually clueless and is being blindsided by everything and suspects this may be a setup by the Pope to diminish his influence and power within the church and society. (note: The Holy See is the judicial authority which the Pope oversees for anyone who isn’t aware of the Catholic system. Means the holy seat.)
This is kinda sounding like how in history there were arguments on the interpretations of the Bible and the different branches of Christianity were forming out of a fractured system in the Renaissance era due to political power and shit.
