The FL learning to defend herself verbally and use her newfound status to her advantage without needing to be with the ML for .5-2 years is a nice touch. Like a lot of others with the “use an arranged marriage to get away from an abusive family” stories, it always takes her like literally that much time of the ML and his people/friends saying “hey you’re a freaking Duchess, tell those plebs off” ya know?
