So let me get this straight, the mage Tower uses the fact mages will eventually die without somebody else to tend to their mana to force people to stay in the tower. So essentially their choices for her are you can 1. Stay with your family and friends and eventually die among them, or 2. You can become an official mage and be forced to join the tower and not see them yet you get to be alive but you never get to see the people that you actually care about and love, thus losing the entire reason for living?
