I understand the frustration – her timid behavior, while understandable from a literary and realistic perspective, can be rather grating for someone coming to this story expecting a proper revenge/face-slap story.
I adore this story, but I’m pretty sure it’s because I was in the right mindset when I first read it. If I was in the middle of a trash binge, instead of being in the hunt for my next hyperfixation, I might have passed on this.
I sometimes wish she had more moxie, too, however, so you’re not completely alone 👍

The hell is wrong with people. Trauma doesn’t just go away that easily. The female lead has every right to be like this, to be upset, and to grieve. I’m surprised she’s even able to function properly and hasn’t gone crazy yet, because, to be honest, the things she had to go through would lead me straight to the nearest asylum. I know we love strong protagonists, but seeing them be like this is such a breath of fresh air. It makes them look more human, and the way they handle things realistically makes it so that the reader will be able to sympathise with them more. I also think the transition from being timid to being a baddie in the future would be so much more satisfying, and I’m looking forward to it!

Trauma affects people differently. She was poisoned and told by the only ones who she thought loved her that they only wanted her inheritance and that her husband loved her step sister. Like sure u wish she would be stronger but the author is at least showing this novel from a perso who would actually experience this instead of them just trying to get revenge. She is trying to forget instead of making the whole novel about revenge.

I do like strong FL who just get straight to revenge and if it was me i would probably be fine even if i die a few times cuz im mentally strong but as much as i like strong FL i am also a good reader so i understand why FL is like this her family died now the only ones left is her lover and stepmother and sister but in the end they betrayed her ofc she is gonna get traumatized by that she will probably get better in the future but not to the point where she become a badass just no longer traumatized and become perfectly fine because of how timid and unstable she is right now it hard to think she will become brave and confident in the future
