How could they be so ungrateful? Regardless of whose daughter she “is,” at that moment she was giving them food. They’d take her handouts while condemning her? People never cease to amaze me.
Is it on principle? Because, let me tell you, if World War 3 spreads to the Caribbean and we former colonies get drafted and/or occupied, you best believe Imma receive rations, with the utmost respect, from whoever is handing them out- even though that entity would likely be the cause of WW3 reaching my shores in the first place. Neither principles, nor integrity- or even grudges- can help if you’re starving. Your goal is survival. At that point it doesn’t matter whose fault the situation is, what matters is that you have to survive it.
And the sad thing is that I used to read these comics and be like: “Oh, well it’s just exaggerated for drama,” but people really are this stupid sometimes. Smh.
