To be honest, I don’t think that Edric was the one at fault at all. Throughout reading till now, I tried my best to defend this two even if I ship Mellie with Francis. The point is, even though Edric had many faults, including his obsession and his twisted love for her, he never once did had a bad intention for her. In fact, I think and see that he sincerely loves Mellie to the point of doing those selfish things. But the fact that his actions always result in the opposite because of their lack of COMMUNICATION and the people around them (especially this mother of his and lowkey his secretary f him)
AND I HAVE SOME REAL PROBLEMS! Let’s not forget Mellie who keeps tolerating everything. I thought she was ready to let him go after those people pushing those realities to her face but after seeing the divorce papers she suddenly got so anxious that she left? Wasn’t she expecting to be cast aside? I thought that’s what she already wanted.
But then again, after all those things she still loves him. Just so you know I don’t like the fact that this FL keeps doing the same mistakes without realizing who’s really making her fail in her duties. I say it’s not her fault nor the duke because he still reassured and kept her by his side even if it was just a front.
(No one has cheated yet, so I’ll still defend them until someone does. Hope the girl learns how to speak up and communicate. That’s all don’t hate me >_< )
