I don’t think its toxic, it’s good to call each other out on whatever notions they have and see if things can be worked out. It’s a codependent relationship but perhaps instead of running away and facing the situation, there might be a way to rise above the compulsions of such a bond and work it out. And it might help set an example for the girls who are going to face similar things in future.
Claire is so much more emotionally intelligent than she gets credit for! She quickly broke down & deciphered her parents feelings for each other that not many children, heck not even all adults can do! and that’ll go a long way in helping her when she meets her “Tara”.
