I think it’s that the mother is double Oscar’s age + 3, so it’s
17+17=34
34+3=37
so the mother is 37 and
37+5=42
It was written that the father age is 42 and the mother five years younger so this should be correct

Honestly the true answer is 34, unless the original problem was to be, The mother is 3 years elder than twice of Oscar Manuel’s age, only then is this answer accurate, otherwise it’s lost in translation or something.

I got 34 too, but the question maybe lack of information too .. it just make no sense for his mother to be 3 years older than him.. hahaha and here we try to solve the problem🤣
