I get that he really wants that relic but at the same time he’s making this single action that would allow the emperor to ignore the laws of the empire and just slay him. Like this seems like a really fast escalation. He’s like ” the emperor may not think it was me for a while” no, he’s going to immediately think it was you and since she’s the only thing in the entire world he cares about, he’ll immediately invade your territory and kill everyone. Even if he doesn’t find her, he’ll still kill you and everyone (unless the writer is stupid because it’s pretty much what they’ve established)
