I kind of sympathize with him. He held her in high regard, though it was all in his imagination. But he was disappointed regardless. He probably thinks she knows exactly what her father does and is okay with it. After all, only he and his comrades know the hell they’ve been through, and only he knows the sacrifices made for her to enjoy her luxurious life. As the Saint he expected her to be, he wished she would show more grief and gratitude, and not overlook it as if it were a trivial, taken-for-granted endeavor or duties of a soldier.
