I think there is also a good point as mentioned by others that they might be indeed twins. Resemblance and their strong connection. I think twins most have it. The strong bond.

Martin and Angie look so very alike, they have to be related! So there’s family of hers on the mainland? It doesn’t seem like such a terrible place so far…

Judging the clues we have so far, we know that on this island there are survivors of the war, there is a god they worship, suspects wind propeller in the sea that divides the island with the mainland and a duke who may or may not be immortal. We can also assume that Martin is a relative of Angie, as Angie is not a native of the island but rather moved there at such a young age that she doesn’t even remember when she lived on the mainland.
My theory is: the Duke’s family suffers from some curse where they have to find some remedy (human blood) but Angie must have some relationship with God and that’s why she has these dreams about Martin, it’s likely that she is like “the chosen one” for break the curse
