Okay from what I understand: 20 years ago there were multiple kingdoms, of which Lamenta is one. Lamenta is ruled by Queens with divine power/ control over demons. Killian’s dad, the current Emperor, began taking over smaller kingdoms, but Lamenta tried to prevent a takeover by sending the young princess Beatrice as a peace envoy. Killian’s uncle, the high priest, killed Beatrice, and Lamenta’s Queen cursed the Emperor to suffer bloodshed from his children. Then she burned Lamenta Castle and there was a plague across the empire for 5 years, during which Killian’s sister died and his mom turned undead, and his dad married the current Queen. Killian’s half-brothers killed his mom so he killed them, earning the wrath of his stepmom. Roughly 15 years later the Emperor is dying, the Queen is turning priests into undead, and there is another plague during which Rieta’s husband and their four-year-old daughter die. She ends up being ransomed by Killian and brought to Axias. Rieta mysteriously has powers similar to the dead Lamentan Queen and/or Princess…
