Yeah that’s something honestly he’s never truly reflected on. From his perspective it didn’t make sense why she didn’t freak out and fight against him saying he didn’t want to be family. That’s something that a child of a ducal family can do, but not a commoner orphan being looked after by that family. Like I honestly totally get him acting that way as a kid and even feeling guilt for acting that way, but he’s massively missed a huge part of what he actually did.
