I’ve been thinking about “the killer”:
1. She never opened the novel, what if the author was just setting up a plot twist?
2. The victims generally have something in common, we have men/woman, random age and occupations… were they all commoners?this comparison leads to
3. Motive: sexual or romance doesn’t seem to be the case, political? I don’t think so unless they were part of a revolutionary group that’s trying to overthrow the king… still if that was the case as a Duke he wouldn’t deal with that in that way, money is definitely not the answer, revenge?, pure evil mmm… let’s say I’m a Duke and killing it’s my hobby personally I would just arrange something like hunting the victims or just torture in my castle’s dungeon I would make the bodies disappear meaning my riches and position allow me to experiment more and make it look like nothing happened but the victims were left somewhere they would be found it is posible that as an evil Duke I want to display the victims the way I’ll do it would be more bould wich brings us to point
4. Method: choking, if the motive is “pure evil” would that really be enough? I’m not a psychopath or sociopath, what I’m trying to say is this is the motive that matches a Duke the most but the method doest, is this killer really a Duke?
5. A theory: maybe Irenius was framed, this deaths are from an unknown killer, the og princess was still after that other Duke the night of the wedding and he was the one to kill her but made it seem like it was Blondie soo we actually have 2 murderers
6. Do autopsies exist in this world? They mentioned that “the bodies were too decomposed” so it seams like it does

the sentence will be like

and then the ending changes

if the killer is him
the female lead will take it down as easy as we didn’t get much excited as we feel
if the killer is the another one
somehow the male lead will in the order to protect the female lead and we will got pressure on who is who and what is what

I definitely suspect Ireneus might not be the killer, considering that the name seem to be derived from Irene Adler (Sherlock Holmes character), and we’ve got John Watson running around too (Sherlock’s friend/assistant). If we run into any “Moran” or “Moriarty” mention I’ll be on my damn guard.

Dam- there are many detectives in the comment section, also the introduction did say that when the og rouge princess was killed, the first suspect was the duke so it’s actually normal to have the most of her doubts in him. Plus it happend on their first night together sooo

The Grandduke killian is also a suspect too, ofc the husband would always be the first suspect but who would kill a princess as soon as they get married. Knowing the husband will be the first one who will be Questioned, killing the princess would lead to people making speculation of them being the killer, it also gives their enemies some chance to drag them down.
