Good theory. I believe she is not contracted to a benevolent spirit but a malevolent one. You remember about Spirits of Day and Night right, and you remember about how Marianne’s eyes turned red when she was screaming at Alisa from outside the cell, right? I think Marianne is contracted to a Spirit of the Night, most probably the Spirit of Darkness.
