there are two reasons why eirin shouldn’t have the duke of colins as a father
1. What he said was really rude “They have a pet and owner relationship”where it imples that eirin is a pet.
2. Richard is obsessed with her which isn’t gonna be good for either eirin or richard.

There isn’t a translation error- Duke Collins did indeed call Erin a ‘pet’. Not in the way you would call a person a pet, but as in actual pet.
Richard first met her as a hurt tiny pink lizard- he took her in, took care of her, nursed her back to health and grew to love her as a companion pet. Those feelings transferred to her as a Human, once Richard knew she could change forms.
Duke Collins is making a point that the bond between his Son and Erin, is the unbreakable bond between a owner and a pet. It goes past petty things like who’s daughter she is, or what family she’s in, it’s not something that is going to go away.
