Theory time: I’ll call this a spoiler, although it’s just my guess. If I’m right and it’s not something others have thought of, it could feel like a real spoiler. She was his betrothed who died. I skipped the first four chapters (stupid, I know,) so maybe they showed that the ages don’t work, but I think she’s that person. Also, we all know that the sister has to be alive somewhere. There’s no way a kid that evil stays missing.
