Honestly, it seems like he only kept her alive because her mother begged him to, but in a honesty her living through the level of abuse that she was in is more cruel than if he had just killed her as a baby.
I know the thought process is that her being alive means there’s a chance things may get better for her at some point, but literally the first chapter proof that’s not true. It took a Ex-Machina like regression for a chance for that to happen.
