It’s not a stereotype. Recent studies still show that on average girls are out performing boys. Now that’s not to say that boys are incapable of ever learning it, just that they are slower at doing so. Nothing wrong with that.
What @asianfan1 said is actually very true, and the reason is is that girls are actually far more hardworking that boys nowadays. You may have also realised from your respective educational institutions that the girls seemed to be excelling further and consistently.
