It’s possible that Ciel, while in Korea, didn’t want anything to do with the people there because he felt like he didn’t belong. The saintess had tricked him into joining that military-esque esper unit, and his anger ended up being misdirected toward his wife. But later on, he realized he had actually fallen for her.
