Assuming there is actually anything true about what he said. I think he’s making up an abusive monastery to explain her PTSD without implicating the family.
It’s absolutely disgusting that he’s using her backstory to trick people how evil can a person be, to use someone’s story for your own personal benefit is just low.

I believe the story of hef brother is a total fake.. From what I remember, her mother was married to the pope like taken as a new wife but I think she is already pregnant. That was the assumption. But it is not clear if they are really related by blood. It was not mentioned on any first chapters that she was adopted. You should confirm this with Ruby!!!
I bet Chesire purposely injured his brother Enzo so he wouldn’t be able to attend this event and to prevent him and Izke to meet since out of the two adaptive older brothers Rubi has, Enzo is the only one who’s nicer to her. Also, what’s Cheshire’s objective in telling false stories (ifit’s indeed not true), is he attempting to provoke and start a war between the North and South kongdoms?
