What an insane conclusion! Like og!Elena most likely made such a promise just to show kindness to the boy. False promises are given just to make people feel better. I don’t think she /knew/ she was gonna die and then have her body possessed.

But so far, the memories have told us, that the original Elena, truly wished for the child to get better and tried her best. Yes true she lied about her being able to cure him with her (non) divive powers, But still, she truly wished for him to get better, so i see no false promise it that regard.
A false promise, would be that she promised it, BUT never ACTUALLY tried curing him.
