i was correct, the brother was the mage. everything makes more sense. we all know the lady and charlotte are the same person, so her brother set all this up to torture her and her lover, who i assume is the ML because the brother (i forgot like everyone’s names..) wanted to be in that place. Again, he’s her biggest nightmare and she’s probably frightened into memory loss (or purposely pushed those bad memories away). Her other nightmare is noah, or their child because maybe she was threatened by her brother that if he found out she was still with him, he’d kill him like he did the painter!!! (i assume he noticed how close the painter and his sister were, so he set this plan to accuse the painter and ultimately kill him)
