Damien seems to be a red flag in manhwa but the novel version has so much angst and he sounded more DEVASTATED than cocky. This is why readers misunderstood this so much. That’s just the way he talks, but if you truly understood how he delivered his lines, he’s ready to die if Chloe says so. In the novel he’s solely living on Chloe’s choice. He’s above anything else but Chloe is like a goddess to him that makes him kneel. In fact, Alice and Arnaud’s relationship is MORE TOXIC. Really TOXIC. They argue everyday and Alice can’t make Arnaud listen to her pleading, yet they can’t stand being apart from each other. While Damien on the other hand listens to everything Chloe says, and their minds and decision synchronizes even if they’re apart.
