Whether or not he’s jealous aside from that he is genuinely angry at her picking up for that boy even when he is wrong.
There is a limit to how much you should cover for someone, if you never admit their mistake they’ll never try to fix it and they’ll take advantage of you if you never put your foot down.
It is also disrespectful to the employer, she’s making excuses when he points out what that boy did wrong, its like she’s saying his judgement is wrong when clearly he is right. It is a detrimental fault in his business and can cost him a lot if it continues, in the genuine interest of the company either that boy gets reprimanded or sooner later fired.
