Well, like, it is her fault he tried to commit suicide. Less through direct fault of action, and more the fault of her very existence being something that makes the grandpa act absolutely effing unfair and insane. If grandpa wasn’t obsessed with her, he wouldn’t have made her the key to the castle and treated everyone else like disposable trash. If she wasn’t the key to the castle, that guy’s parents wouldn’t have demanded that he date her. And if they and the grandpa hadn’t spent his entire life trying to force him, he wouldn’t have rebelled in such a violently self-destructive way during school by rejecting her. And he wouldn’t have completely lost his worth with his entire family when he lost his favor with her. Absolutely nothing good has come of her involvement with this family. Grandpa is happy, because he is obsessive, but at the cost of every single other person.
