This hurts me… It’s obvious at this point that he was always nice, not just acting, and someone planted ideas into his head along the way. Probably that Nova family, but maybe also the empress to make her son access the throne somehow?

Regardless if he was nice before. He could have trusted his wife instead of vassal traitors. Or fully investigated everything first. Also, he seems had an affair with that ugly witch too.
