I’m in agreement that it feels like a misunderstanding, but even if it’s one of the two major misunderstandings (i.e. her family was actually guilty and he’s trying to protect her, or her family was framed and he really did want her dead), telling her in a private conversation to her face that he wanted her dead as well, Is an irreparable damage statement that can never be repaired.
Yes, it’s almost certain that the broach was stolen, but even if he’s currently at this point in the past the sweetest person that is in love with her, there should honestly be no way she’s ever able to reconcile that statement he made to her.

I don’t think it was a misunderstanding at all. I think ML is after revenge on her family. Maybe her dad have a hand on killing the emperor??? And she needs to sty alive to suffer too? She used her and then discarded her after. Hmmm
