So to clarify something really fast if I’m not misremembering: the Duke’s mom was a Duchess who was originally a commoner. The Duchess was more or less kidnapped by the Emperor, who is the Duke’s father.
With all this background, we somehow don’t have two princes, we have a Crown Prince and a Duke with literally no relation to the Duke that held the title before him. Also that seems like the ultimate slap in the face from the Emperor (I’m going to kidnap your wife force her to be my concubine and then have her give birth to my son who I then will give your duchy).
