My current theory; Edwina is Cordelia’s mom! She couldn’t stay permanently in the modern world (Liam says “his time is up” and the mom also seemed to know ahead of time that she would have to leave). The mysterious benefactor who sent Cordelia to the boarding house was sending Cordelia’s letters to Edwina via the box. Edwina was writing back, but she eventually died or something, so the benefactor kept writing to Cordelia by forging the letters… It might even have been Veder forging them…
