I think she’s very deliberately refusing to believe he’s talking about her/them, and that he could possibly be interested. Because she has spent 11 years being rejected, and doesn’t want to risk getting her hopes up only to have her heart broken again

I genuinely feel embarrassment for the FL’s older brother and father. The girl may be 19, but she’s a bit dumb.
I repeat: she reads as a sheltered 14-year-old who has never ever lied. Her brother is the best man here, I would have lost my patience with her pretty quickly.
