The Prince’s selfishness is definitely a result of how he was raised, so it is his dad’s fault. He seeks love wherever he thinks he’ll get it, and then becomes obsessed with doing what he thinks he needs to ‘preserve’ it, even if that means using others, lying, or trying to take their place. If his father had paid more attention to him, he probably wouldn’t be like this. I mean, how sad is it that a 12 year old (or however old he was in the flashback) realizes he’d get more affection if he resembled his dead mother more????
